6th Grade (Vav) Class Update

Dear Kitah Vav (6th-grade) Families,

We’ll soon wrap up the selected narratives from the Book of Judges (Shoftim). The students’ presentations have been very informative and creative. They chose from four of the Shoftim to present to the class (Ehud ben Gera, Deborah, Gideon, and Samson).

We will bridge the time period of the Book of Judges to the Books of Samuel 1 & 2. The period of the Judges ends in a dysfunctional and fragmented society for the Israelites, and this chaotic time gave rise to their desire for a King. The Israelite Monarchy begins with King Saul, and then King David. David is an important biblical figure who united Israel and established Jerusalem as its Religious and Political Capital. We will continue with King David’s son Solomon as 3rd King of Israel, the building of the 1st Temple, and what transpires leading to the division of the united nation into 2 states, Israel and Judah, following the reign of Solomon.

Please look for information/communication on our Yad LaTorah Program, which will be for ALL Vav classes (both Monday/Wednesday and Tuesday/Thursday) on Thursday, February 18th, 2021 at 5:00 PM. We will have a Sofer (Scribe) give a distance-lesson and virtual “demonstration”. Prior to that date, students will have their Yad LaTorah at home, and we ask that you please wait to assemble it so that we may do so virtually “together” on Thursday, February 18th. RSVP HERE!

Wishing You All a Happy & Healthy 2021, and Tu B’Shvat is just around the corner!

B’Shalom,

Danny
