Shalom Kitah Het (8th grade) Families:
Jewish Book Month is here! In Kitah Het we choose a Holocaust non-fiction book to read (there are a few historical fiction books that are allowed). Please ask your student about their choice and check in once a week this month - ask questions like:
Who is the main character in your book?
What country does your books story take place?
Is your book talking about anything Jewish?
Is it easy for you to picture what is going on in the story?
Do you want to look at a map together to see where the story is taking place?
What part of the book is sitting with you after you read it?
As parents we often observe our students work and are bystanders...what about jumping in and picking up a Holocaust related book this month yourself to read? You can share what you read about with your student and show that lifelong learning is an important value in your family.
Thank you for supporting your student in their learning,
B’shalom,
Kara
