Dear Gimel parents,
After a relaxing Winter Break, our Gimel classes came back together to start our second semester! We began where we left off, learning about Shabbat and the rituals, prayers, and objects are used to celebrate it. Students brainstormed and came up with a list of activities that do on Shabbat to make it feel special and different from the other days in the week. They also did an “I Spy” activity, where they had to find Shabbat objects (like candlesticks and a challah cover) within a larger image.
Moving forward, our classes will begin to focus on the idea of Hakarat HaTov, how we use our words and actions to show gratitude to others. We will discuss what it means to show gratitude, why it’s important, and how they can express it.
As a teaching team, we are very excited for the start of the second semester! We are so proud of the effort and enthusiasm that our students have shown throughout the year so far, and can’t wait to see what the second half of our year together will bring!
B’Shalom,
Polly & Dan
