New Opportunities for the New Year!
As we welcome 2021, I am excited to share with you that in addition to all of the remarkable distance classes and activities that are being facilitated by our dedicated resident faculty and staff, this week we are rolling out our collaborative Talmud Torah Karaoke Tefillah program with Rabbi Josh Warshawsky! Rabbi Josh is well-known to many of our students and families through his musical and inspirational presence across the country, but especially as a frequent artist-in-residence at Camp Ramah in Wisconsin. Your student may also remember that he came to Talmud Torah last year as our special in-person musical guest. His exceptional skills as a teacher, singer, songwriter, performer, and Jewish song leader are uniquely captured in the series of engaging music videos that he has prepared for our school.
We will be releasing a different video posting every week that students and their families may choose to watch and interact with at any time throughout that week. The unique aspect of Rabbi Josh’s Karaoke Tefillah project is that he encourages participation by including the Hebrew text to prayers and songs as an integral part of his videos, allowing anyone who watches them to actively listen, sing, and/or read the text all at the same time. In addition to the music and tefillot themselves, he also often guides viewers toward the meaning and aspirations for a number of the songs.
HERE is the link to the first of Rabbi Josh’s videos. We hope that it provides you and your Talmud Torah student with yet another resource to support ongoing meaningful Jewish experiences! Be sure to watch for future announcements for new weekly video releases throughout the remainder of the school year.
L’shalom,
Hazzan Jeremy Lipton, Head of School
